The County Government of Taita Taveta through the Department of Education and Libraries has initiated a partnership with CAP Youth Empowerment Institute - Kenya (CAP-YEI) in a youth employability skills programme dubbed “Youth Learn, Earn and Save Initiative”.
Over 100 youth are set to benefit from the first phase of the programme which will boost their chances of getting absorbed in the job market.
The beneficiaries will be equipped with life skills, business mentor networking, work preparedness and placement to connect them with the placements among other.
Governor Granton Samboja said CAP-YEI will facilitate the market scan and identify the potential training sectors to impact the demand driven skills based on the market needs, build and develop a strong business mentor’s network to ensure the linkages and placement support to the trainees.
"The institution will also provide financial literacy and entrepreneurship skills to trainees to help them to initiate their own business and provide joint certification to trainees along with Voi vocational training centre for advanced learning opportunities and linkage," he said on Thursday.
