More than 1,000 students in tertiary institutions have received bursary funds courtesy of the Nairobi County government.
Governor Mike Sonko said the funds were distributed among students who come from humble backgrounds.
The former Embakasi MP said education is one of the sectors his administration will strive to develop taking into account the importance of leading an educated population.
"At least 1,000 students will befit from the ongoing bursary distributions in secondary and vocational training institutes," Sonko said during the distribution of the funds on Thursday.
During his inaugural speech, Sonko promised to deliver on his pledges assuring Nairobi residents of equitable distribution of resources.
He also promised to ensure students who come from poor families receive adequate assistance from his government.
