Over 1,100 students from Mwala in various institutions of higher learning such as colleges, universities, technical training institutes among others have benefited from a bursary of Sh 7,000 each.

The bursary was announced by the area Mp Eng Vincent Musyoka Tuesday. The students met in December 2015 where they applied for the funds and the documents signed by parties such as chiefs who were all at the meeting to ease the work of the students. 

Last year 1,000 students benefited from Sh 5,500 each. The amounts have been increased this year to Sh 7,000 allocated equally to all students. These means of allocation was decided by students themselves in the December meeting and it was adopted there after. 

Several students that managed to speak exclusively to this writer congratulated the Mp for the move. Alfonce Mutunga a student leader at the university of Nairobi said," We are very happy with our leader, he values education. Students have no excuse for not passing now. Even as we head to the next general elections lets look for leaders that has the interest of the common mwananchi at heart. 'Kawaya' is one of them."

The student belong to all institutions and come from all parts of Mwala.
