[Photo|County Government of Kisumu]The County government of Kisumu in collaboration with the East African Breweries Limited (EABL), are seeking to create 115,000 employment opportunities. The move will result in the production of one million-hectare liters of beer annually with the initial product for the first two years being Senator Keg, after a brewery plant is set up in the county. In a meeting with the officials from EABL, Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o confirmed that both the Agriculture and Industrialization departments will work closely with EABL to ensure that a brewery plant is set up by July 2018.All the parties agreed that an active mobilization and sensitization programme with farmers in the county was imperative to the success of the venture. It was also suggested that the 25,000 hectare of land in Muhoroni sugar belt area, that was lying idle, would be suitable farming land.During a meeting with the EABL officials, Thursday, Nyong'o said farmers in the region were ready to move into active farming once the pricing is clearly set and when markets are readily available for their produce
