Coast Region Education Coordinator Dickson ole Keis has said that more than 15, 000 pupils from different coastal counties will not get form one admission letters.
Speaking at Coast Girls High School in Mombasa during the launch of Form One selection exercise, Keis said that most of the affected students scored less than 250 marks in this year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations.
He further urged various stakeholders to create various different avenues that can enable the affected students achieve their dreams in life.
“About 15,000 candidates in Coast are going to be left out because of lack of Form One spaces,” Ole Keis as quoted by Nation.
Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KSSHA) Mombasa Chairman Enos Jilo has, however, said that there is still light at the end of the tunnel for students who will not be selected to join form one during the exercise.
“There are private institutions which can accommodate these students, some who charge way cheaper than public schools while students who will not join the schools they have been called to for one reason or another will provide space for them,” said Mr Jilo.
This comes after Education PS Alfred Matiang’i announced results earlier than expected.
