More than 200 security officers have been deployed in Eldoret town to boost security as Kenyans celebrate the Christmas festive.

Speaking to reporters yesterday at his office, Eldoret East Police boss Nelson Taliti said that they are alert and would ruthlessly deal with law breakers.

Mr Taliti said that the officers will conduct impromptu operations and patrols adding that residents should support them.

“We have deployed over 200 police men and women across Eldoret town to ensure security of the people,” he said.

The commander warned that stiff action will be taken against law breakers.

Mr Taliti also stated that they are working with the county government to make sure that no crime is recorded this festive season. “We will pursue criminals to their hideouts with the aim of ensuring a calm environment.

The Police added tthat all police officers who had taken leave have been recalled to help in ensuring peace.

He said that criminals’ gangs often take advantage of the festive season to conduct crime.

Mr Taliti further asked owners of hotels and entertainment joints to conduct thorough security checks.

He said that security checks are important and would help recognize and arrest criminals planning to cause havoc.
