Awiti said demolishing the kiosks will affect business operation at the beach.

He challenged the county government to find an alternative area where the traders can transact business before the demolition begin.

The kiosks are mainly operated by retail traders.

Jomo Kenyatta Public Beach is among the busiest and most frequented beaches by holiday makers in Mombasa and owners of the kiosks sell merchandise to the visitors.

If the planned demolition is implemented, more than 2,000 traders will be affected.

County CeC for Transport Taufiq Balala said the demolition is meant to allow the county government construct modern kiosks for the traders as well as modernization of roads around the beach.
