The families claim that they have lived there for more than 60 years and the land was given to their parents after working for Delamere for a long time.

"We have been the occupants of this parcel of land since 1952. Some rich people have been coming here to threaten us with evictions claiming that they own the land," Clement Gaithuru, an occupant told journalists yesterday.

They identified one of the tycoons as Patel whom they say has been giving them sleepless nights.

"I was born here and even my parents are buried here. This is my home. When you tell me to leave, where do you want me to go?" asked Nancy Waruguru.

Following the incident, are MCA Wanyoike Wanango has said that he will not allow the families to be evicted saying that they have a right to the piece of land.

"These are conmen and we will not allow them to take the land. Let them not come here with a very old court order from the DC's office because we will not recognize it," said Wanango.
