As the heavy rains continue to hit various parts of the country, close to 300 families of Internally Displaced Persons(IDPS) from Mau forest living in Kipkongor and Kurbanyat camps in Kuresoi south Sub-county continue to suffer as rains tears their tents and leaves them sleeping on cold floors.

Speaking at Kurbanyat IDP camp, some of the teary women narrated the painful ordeal of crying children and sleepless nights as polythene roofs give in rain water soaking their bedding and making cooking unbearable.

Alice Chepng'etich and Mary said that children in the IDP camps are suffering following lack of food,torn tents and no help at sight.

Kipkongor IDP camp Chairman Denis Lang'at expressed concern over the appalling conditions and said that despite making effort to seek support, nothing has been forthcoming even as families continue to wallow in abject poverty. 

He called on the government to step and relieve them off the problem.

"Our children are staring at death and we are confused on what next as others keep asking us when we would go back"said Simon Chepkwony, Kurbanyat IDP camp leader.
