Speaking during the distribution of wheelchairs at Jomo Kenyatta Sports Ground, Governor Jack Ranguma said as a county they are committed to improving the well-being of PWDs.

Mr Ranguma said people who will benefit from the devices were carefully selected across the county.

“My government is committed to ensuring that PWDs get fully represented in my government in various positions,” he stated.

During the distribution, the governor asked the County Executive Member for Education, Gender and Cultural Services, Jennifer Kere to set up an office specifically for the disabled where they can register their complaints.

The PWDs had earlier complained of being sidelined in most county government projects.

They said in terms of employment, they were not well represented and at the same time asked the governor to consider designing bursary forms for the disable differently with their logos because in most occasions many apply but they end up not getting the bursaries.

However nominated MCAs representing the PWDs said whenever jobs are advertised, those people who qualify should apply for such jobs and notify them.
