Over 503 primary schools in Kericho County have benefited from phase one of the Digital Learning program which is a key flagship project of the Jubilee administration.
The Director of programmes and standards in the Ministry of Information, Communiction and Technology, Kipronoh Ronoh Paul said nearly all primary schools in Kericho County have received the digital learning devices for standard one to three with about 20 schools set to receive their gadgets in two weeks.
The ICT Director was speaking at Chemoiben primary school in Bureti where he issued 43 DLP devices to the school.
He said more students were enrolling in schools in the country due to the presence of computers in their classrooms.
He observed that absenteeism is no longer prevalent in school as excited pupils turn up regularly for classes.
John Temba who is the Deputy Director Digital learning Programme in the ministry of education said Computer education was now compulsory for pupils to enable them to be competitive in the digitized world.
He hailed the jubilee administration for rolling out the digital learning programme in lower primary schools adding; soon phase one will be completed ushering the second level which will cover standard four to class eight.
