Nakuru County Commissioner Mohammed Birik said that the government has started training and reaching out to the Nyumba Kumi cluster leaders in a bid to improve county security.
Speaking during Madaraka Day celebrations at Afraha stadium, Birik said that already there are 5,339 Nyumba Kumi clusters in the county.
He lamented that cases of young people being recruited in terror groups are on rise.
“We would like to urge parents to take care of their children and warn them against joining terror groups,” said Birik.
Birik pointed out that the Nyumba Kumi initiative was the best means to solve cases of youths joining terror groups.
He however pointed out that the county had increased police patrols and were monitoring the residents closely to manage the crimes in the county.
He called on the residents to ensure that their areas were under proper surveillance.
“Any information that might deter deaths in our county will be helpful. We are also appealing to the residents to own up the initiative as it will benefit them more,” noted Birik.
Birik also called on the county leadership to stop internal wrangles which he claimed would deter development.
