Marie Stopes Kenya in 2014 prevented over 6,2000 unwanted pregnancies countrywide.
In addition, the organisation has saved over 1,245 children from death, and 76 women from losing their lives during childbirth.
Marie Stopes regional director, Faustina Fynn Nyame says this has been possible through the 700 sites that they have had in the country, which offer family planning and other reproductive health services.
In an exclusive interview, Nyame said that many more women were now adopting to safer and proper family care methods.
“Today we have 50 outreach sites and 2 Amua centers in the county,” she added
She cited that the clinic aimed to provide information on reproductive health care and refer clients to the nearest clinic for services.
Marie Stopes CEO Simon Cooke says that nearly 100 million clients visit their centres in the 37 countries that they are located in.
“Our organisation has a good rapport with the county government of Nakuru and is willing to work with the government to offer health services to the people,” He added
Nakuru county governor Kinuthia Mbugua said that the recent Health indicators in Nakuru County show that the uptake of family planning is high at 53.4% indicating that the entire Nakuru County Nakuru childbearing population uses birth control methods.
“This means that in every two people one of them uses family planning. Parents in the county are getting an average of three-four children an indication that people have embraced family planning," said Governor Mbugua.
About 135 out of 195 health facilities in Nakuru County offer family planning services. Out of these facilities, twenty of them which is about 15% have been constructed, equipped and staffed within the two years of devolution by the County Government of Nakuru.
"We are working towards making all health facilities offer 100% essential health services including family planning," said Mbugua.
