The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) on Sunday released a report indicating that 84 drivers have been arrested for failing to maintain lane discipline along major highways.
NTSA earlier this month rolled out Fika Salama campaigns that has seen an increased crackdown on the roads for traffic offence violators.
The report says that over 800 cases have been handled.
34 PSVs , 42 commercial vehicles and 310 private vehicles have been arrested countrywide for speeding.147 vehicles were impounded for operating without valid motor vehicle inspection.
NTSA is set to present the cases to court next week.The authority has recently received sharp criticism for failing to tame road accidents in the country.An earlier report by NTSA showed that the country reported over 180 deaths in the country since December 1st.The traffic regulator has sort to urge Kenyans to be responsible road users during this festive season.
