Residents of Wajir County who are yet to collect their National Identity Card have been urged to do so before the fresh presidential election. Wajir county Registrar of Persons Mark Simiyu has reminded the residents to pick their cards from the office before the stipulated time as they are creating a huge backlog
According to the officer, more than 800 IDs remain uncollected despite calls from the administrations. He noted that there are some of the IDs that have been at the office for more than two years and it seems no one is ready to collect them.
“Some people don’t come to collect their identity cards even after being contacted over the phone,” Simiyu said, as quoted by Star.
The officer also said that the establishment of Huduma centers in the nation has made service delivery efficient, adding that residents need to embrace them for their good ahead of the election exercise. He further asked them to visit the centers whenever they need assistance.
“Huduma centres have led to an increase in the number of applications due to the ease of processing and collection of identity documents, especially for new applicants,” Simiyu said.
