This was disclosed by Mavoko Member of Parliament Patrick Makau who said the investor's initiative would improve livelihood for the women alongside increasing the sub county's economy.

Addressing the congregation at the First Baptist Church in Athi River town on Sunday after attending a mass in the church, the legislator urged the women who were part of the programme to take the training seriously.

"I urge all women from Mavoko Sub County who are beneficiaries of the free training to take it seriously and do their best as they wait to be employed by the investor," said Makau.

Makau said that the training is life changing adding that the skills would be applied by the women the whole of their lives even after the end of the project being initiated by the investor.

He disclosed that the foreigner has established a textile company at the Export Processing Zone Authority, Athi River branch and intends to absorb the women once they completed the two-week training.

The MP called on other women to apply for the training and get ready so as to be considered in next intake scheduled for next month this year as the company intended to recruit over 3,000 women for the job.

He lauded the foreign investor for the noble project stating that it will offer lots of opportunities for young women and female youth who have tarmacked for ages without getting tertiary training and reliable jobs to earn reasonable livelihoods.
