Over 8,500 graduands will today, Friday, be conferred degrees and awarded diplomas during the 56th graduation ceremony at the University of Nairobi (UoN).

The event being held at the UoN graduation square in Nairobi kicked off at 8am. Deputy President William Ruto and Education Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i are expected to preside over the ceremony.

During the event, 56 graduands will be conferred with PhDs, 2,477 Masters, 5,177 Bachelors, 49 Postgraduate diplomas, while other 2 will get Fellowship awards and 1 Honorary doctorate.

First Aid facilities have been provided within the graduation venue to handle medical emergencies

Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes away from University Way, to beat traffic.
