The sheep and goats were abandoned along the Mitaboni-Nairobi road in Matungulu sub county.

Matungulu market chairman Anthony Mutungi said the abandoned sheep and goats could have been stolen from outside the sub county.

He said the rustlers abandoned them after being ordered to stop by night guards.

"We are making announcements so that whoever has his cattle missing can come forward, identify if they belong to them and they shall be given to the rightful owner," said Mutungi.

Mutungi also called upon the police to restrict late night herding of cattle since it encourages cattle theft.

He has also asked people to ensure secure environment for their cattle especially as we approach the month of December which is characterised by multiple holidays which encourage cattle rustling.
