The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has said that a quarter of polling stations across the country lack network coverage.
According to the agency, 11,155 out of the total 40,883 polling stations will not have the network coverage on elections day.
Through a tweet on their official handle, IEBC said that returning officers in those areas will have to move to other areas with internet hotspots so as to relay results.
"11,155 out of 40,883 polling stations lack network. Presiding officers will move for better signal, use Satellite phones to transmit results," the tweet read as reported by the Star.
IEBC said that these areas lack a sufficient 3G or 4G network coverage.
Kisii county has the highest number of these stations with the figure at 922, followed closely by Muranga at 912 and Homabay at 892.
Next are Busia, Migori and Kirinyaga at 641, 528 and 461 respectively.
