Residents claim that the estate houses dangerous thieves who have been terrorizing them.Upon learning about this unfortunate incident and loss of property the Kisumu Deputy Governor Dr Ochieng Owili led a delegation of county government officials and visited victims of Kaloleni fire incident, Monday. On Sunday, hundreds of residents spent night in cold after their houses were razed down, in a retaliatory attack, following claims that two individuals from the estate attacked a boda boda operator and burnt his motorcycle a move that angered other boda boda operators.Accompanied by Sub-county Administrator Samson, Railway ward MCA David Arao and area MCA Prisca Misachi, Owili visited the scene of incident to assess the situation and end the stalemate, Monday.
He convened a meeting and asked the residents to embrace one another and live in peaceful coexistence as brothers and sisters from one family, and further assured the victims of full county government's support. "The county government will look into ways to bring back normalcy in the area. Those whose houses and businesses were razed down will be helped out put up new structures," affirmed Owili.Boda boda operators demanded compensation for the burnt motorbikes for peace to prevail in the area, even as residents claimed robbers reside within. Owili however said it would be unfair to put the burden on the residents who were yet to recover from such a huge loss.
