The president of the Student Organisation of Nairobi University (SONU), Babu Owino says he will live out his dream of leadership come 2027.

Owino articulates his hopes that when he bids for the presidency in 2027, the region that strongly supports CORD leader, Raila Odinga will rally behind him. The SONU president, however, noted that he has to seek permission from Raila for him to grasp his crucial dream in politics. Owino said that he holds Odinga in high regard.

“Raila is my political father. I respect him very much and I pray for him to be the president of Kenya in 2017. I have met and held talks with him severally,” he said.

“I have learnt quite a lot from him. He is a person who prioritises democracy and he has the heart and the zeal to serve Kenyans. He is a personal friend and a mentor,” Owino added.

Owino who vied for the Westlands parliamentary seat in 2013’s general elections, but lost to the current MP, Tim Wanyonyi, confirmed that his pursuit for the Embakasi East legislatorial position is still intact.

“I will vie for Embakasi East Constituency in 2017 on an ODM ticket,” reiterated Babu.

He has, nonetheless, set his eyes on the country’s top political office which he says he’ll have a shot at.

“I will vie for the presidency in 2027. I know Kenyans are yearning for my leadership and I will serve them in that capacity. I am sure I will be the country’s president,” he proclaimed.

For those labelling him as the leader of goons, Owino said, “A goon is a person who cannot comprehend simple things in life. I cannot lead such people.”
