A dispute over the ownership of St Mary’s Hospital in Nakuru pitting a nun and a priest shifted into a blame game when the two parties appeared in court.
The nun accuse the priest of trying to shortchange them into entering an ownership deal.
Appearing before Justice Sila Munyao on Monday, Sister Mary Theresa Machangi of the Assumption Sisters, told the court that MaryKnoll Fathers and Brothers commissioned Father Bill Fryda from New York as a missionary to channel funds in the construction of the hospital.
Machangi said she could not understand how then it turned out that Bill became owner of the multi-million-shilling facility.
Fryda is claiming the ownership of the hospital saying he sourced for funds to buy the parcels of land and construct the institution after getting a go-ahead from his Catholic order, the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers Society.
He further accused Cardinal John Njue and the nun of orchestrating to deprive him the ownership of the facility.
The row has paralysed learning at a school in the facility for children from poor families.
