[Photo|Joseph O Magwanga]Oyugi Magwanga, the closest rival of Homa Bay Governor Cyprian Awiti, has sent out his new year message to the residents.Magwanga has petitioned Awiti's August 8 re-election and hopes to win the case.Below is his New Year message alongside his deputy Joshua Orero. "Ladies and gentlemen of the great County of Homa Bay, 2017 was characterized by myriads of political activities both locally and nationally. We participated in party primaries and general election and in both polls, anticipated new political dispensations. In certain elective positions such changes were realised, but in Homa Bay governorship particularly, the status quo prevailed. This went against your wishes as demonstrated by the number of votes you gave me and my running mate during August polls. We sincerely want to thank God for his mercy, and all of you who stood by us in this struggle. As we begin the New Year, I want to wish you blessings, hope and restoration of the leadership we overwhelmingly voted for. Happy New Year and a Prosperous 2018!!------------------------------Hon. Joseph Oyugi Magwanga & Joshua Orero"
