[Photo/ NASA coalition]Ugunja Member of Parliament Opiyo Wandayi landed a lucrative committee job at the National Assembly on Monday.The ODM Political Affairs Director was elected the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman, a committee which consists of a chairperson and not more than sixteen other members.The Committee is responsible for the examination of the accounts showing the appropriations of the sum voted by the House to meet the public expenditure and of such other accounts laid before the House as the Committee may think fit.Kibwezi East MP, Jessica Mbalu was elected to deputise Wandayi.Rarieda lawmaker Otiende Amollo had expressed interest in the PAC chairperson but blamed some cartels who he said frustrated his bid.However, controversial blogger Robert Alai has explained why Amollo would not be allowed to lead the powerful committee.Alai said there was no way ODM party leader Raila Odinga would allow Amollo to chair PAC.According to him, the first-time lawmaker and former Ombudsman chairman was still immature in politics and that PAC head post requires vocal MPs such as Wandayi."No way Raila was going to allow Otiende Amollo to be the PAC chairman. Raila values theatrics like that of Wandai more than brains of wakina Otiende Amollo. Also, Otiende is still very immature politically so in a way, I support this decision," Alai said hours after the election.PAC elects a chairperson and vice-chairperson from amongst its members.
