President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday shocked journalists when he angrily told them to leave an event.
Journalists were covering the Inspector General of Police annual conference at the Kenya School of Government when a visibly angry Uhuru told them to leave.
“Sasa si nyinyi mzime hiyo mavitu yenyu na muende, kazi imekwisha,” the Head of State told the journalists.
A camera man who was covering the function said the President was not in his usual cool nature.
"He usually welcomes us to tea in a jovial mood after press conferences. But today he looked tough and dead serious on us, seems this conflict on TV shut down will deepen," the journalist said.
Linus Kakai, the chairman of Editors Guild, had on Monday accused Kenyatta of trying to muzzle the media.
This was after reports leaked that Kenyatta had called media owners at State House and ordered them not to cover live the 'swearing in' ceremony of Mr Raila Odinga who had promised to swear himself in as the people's president.
On Tuesday, january 30, the government shut down three TV stations that tried to cover live the event.
