Although most Kenyans can afford to watch televisions at the comfort of their houses, things are different in Kisii University.

Here students have to work extra hard to catch up with news or their favourite programmes, courtesy of digital television.

The students have to flock into their only hall (Nyayo Hall) in the university to access this services.

The university has a very big population that is only serviced by one television set after the other set was stolen last year.

Things get worse when there is football match as some students do crazy things to at least get a grasp of what is going on.

This population is accelerated by some non-students, the villagers, who also take advantage of this free DSTV viewing.

Maina Nyambuti a student said that he had to be in the hall one hour before time so that he can secure a seat at his place of comfort.

“It is shame that a respectable university like this one can not afford to provide more screens to their student,” laments Nyambuti.

According to University's director of sport and entertainment, Dennis Manduku, he had last year promised to improve this situation by installing another DSTV screen in Sagini Hall (a hall in the university) but this has not come to be.

“I promised to improve the situation during my campaign and am still working hard to make my fellow comrades comfortable,” said Manduku.
