A Pakistani national was sentenced one year in jail by a Nakuru court on Wednesday for working and being in Kenya illegally.

Alternatively,  Saleh Awan who pleaded guilty to the charge may not serve the sentence if he pays a Sh200, 000 fine.

The prosecution told the court that Awan was arrested on September 22 within Nakuru town.

Immigration officials said Awan was found selling car spare parts without proper documents.

He is said to be a manager of the spare parts company.
