Investigations have been launched in a case where students from Kituro Highschool in Baringo Central suffered from food poisoning.
During the Tuesday incident, 140 students are said to have eaten expired bread, forcing the school to send home most of them to go for treatment.
According to Baringo County Director of Education Willie Machocho, the students started complaining of stomach aches and headaches, after they had their breakfast on Monday morning.
After the students reported the case to the administration, they were then rushed to the Kituro Dispensary for treatment, where tests done came out positive of food poisoning.
“10 students complained of stomachache and headache on Monday morning after consuming bread for breakfast. They were rushed to the nearest dispensary for treatment and were discharged," said Mr Machocho as quoted by the Standard.
He added: “The facility was not able to handle the high number of learners and some required further examination and treatment. That is why the management decided to release them,"
he further said that the supplier will face stern action once the investigations are complete, and rubbished rumours on social media that it was a cholera attack.
