About 17 people have died following malaria outbreak in North Horror, Marsabit County in the last 1 week.
The disease has caused havoc in the region affecting adults aged 40 years and children.
According to health officials, most affected people are herders who get the infection of the disease while at grazing areas far away from health centers.
Most of the victims dropped and died while on their way to seek medical treatment.
"The situation has worsened and it will take sometime to control the disease", said Kenya Red Cross regional coordinator Talaso Chucho.
Chucho also lamented that the nurses' strike ongoing has paralyzed operations at health facilities.
