Shock and panic has gripped Kenyan security agencies after recent investigations by the Daily Nation reporter indicated that some key security agencies in Kenya have been radicalised and are terrorist sympathisers.

The reports indicate that sensitive counter-terrorism strategies are being linked to terrorist by the custodians of security in Kenya thus undermining government efforts and even risking the lives of other officers.

The report pointed to Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), National Intelligence Service (NIS), National Police Service and Kenya Prison Services as key terrorist sympathisers.

An NIS officer who used to resides in South C, Nairobi and has access to classified information is suspected to be among the radicalised officers who share crucial information with terrorist. However, the whereabouts of the officers are still unknown.

The shocking report also indicated that some prison warders are also radicalised since they facilitate some terror suspects to recruit while in custody.

“It poses serious challenges, especially when such rogue officers are deployed in departments that deal with information gathering, analysis, assessment, and dissemination,” said a senior government official.

The investigations further revisited the incident of the policeman who killed his seven colleagues at Kapenguria Police station, indicating that the late Abdi Maslah had a network with terrorist within the service. The report indicated that some police believed to be within Maslah network are still in the police service.

Maslah, who upon his death it was revealed that his bank account had Sh3 million though he joined the service in 2013.

Police Boss Joseph Boinnet has however denied the existence of officers linked to terrorism group.

Apart from the security agencies, some medical facilities are also said to have been infiltrated by an Isis-affiliated network. Among the health facilitates under scrutiny are Kenyatta National Hospital and Wote Hospital.
