Area Nyumba Kumi chairman only identified as Matoya confirmed the incident and said the middle-aged woman was raped before he was killed by unknown people.
“The woman is familiar in the area and she has been hawking fruits in Kisii town. Her killers must be known,” he said.
He called on residents to remain calm as investigations into the incident start.
Matoya said cases of insecurity in the area are on the rise in the past few months.
He said this is the 4th body to be found dumped.
Residents said boda-boda riders who operate at night should be investigated.
Kisii central police station officers arrived at the scene and collected the body to Kisii teaching and referral mortuary.
An officer who declined to be named since he is not authorized to speak on behalf of police said the matter will be investigated to arrest and prosecute the murders.
