Students who sat for their KCSE exams this year might have their results before they celebrate Christmas.
Indications emerged that Education CS Fred Matiang’i might release the results, a few weeks after the candidates penned their final paper.
According to the latest reports, only six centres are yet to finalise on their marking, and most if not all process required have been finalized.
“Be on the look-out because as things stand now, the remaining centres are about to complete marking and processing of marks will soon be done with,” said a source who spoke to the Standard Newspaper.
Most of the marking centres had been closed by last week, signaling that marking had been completed in most areas.
This will be the fastest candidates ever received their results, with Matiang’I lauded for bringing change in the ministry.
615,773 candidates sat for this year’s exams. Last year, only 141 candidates scored the coveted grade ‘A’, which was a shock, compared to 2,685 who attained the grade in 2015.
Overall, only 88,929 candidates scored a C+ and above, which is the minimum entry into university.
In 2015, 169,492 scored a C+ and above, in an exam that was clearly marred with cheating across the country.
