On Wednesday, the new governor conducted a chain of operations at the cash offices where he found the previous day's collection, which amounted to over Sh7 million, stashed.
The operation was aired live on the governor's Facebook account, showing the officers who were with the cash.
"It is completely unacceptable that yesterday's collection in excess of Sh7 million in cash was lying with the cashiers by 11am yet the county's bank is only 50 metres away," he said.
“Under my watch, City Hall has ceased to be anyone's cash cow. We shall streamline revenue collection and management.”
Most of the workers are now saying they have to change their service provision models or else face the governor's wrath.
“Tension is really high. This governor can set you up. He is like a detective and I think we must change our ways of doing things,” said a worker at City Hall.
