This is because Kiambu Governor William Kabogo and aspirant Ferdinand Waititu started volleying the name(s) around trying to prove they went to the said university(..ies).

The academic credentials for both are questionable.

Some quick facts about the university show Waititu and Kabogo claim to have attended Panjab and not Punjab as many have wrongly been putting it.

According to Wikipedia, the present-day Panjab University traces its origin to the Punjab University established in 1882 at Lahore (now in Punjab Pakistan).

After the partitioning of India in 1947, the university was split into two for Indian Punjab and Pakistani Punjab. To distinguish the two, the name of the university on the Indian side was changed from Punjab to Panjab.

The official name of the university is, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Chandigarh is the city where it is located.

It is one of the oldest public universities in India and Times Higher Education Asian Universities ranking 2015, ranked it the best in India and 38th in Asia.

It has 10 affiliated colleges spread in over four states of India and its chancellor is the Vice President of India.

Panjab University has 75 teaching and research departments and more than 250,000 students including affiliated colleges.

It stands on a 550-acre piece of land. Its motto is, ''Lead us unto the Light from Darkness." Which the two politicians should do if they are to be credible leaders.
