Residents of Gesima were on Wednesday left in a rude shock after pants, old blankets and used sanitary towels were found in illicit brews.

The locals condemned the illicit brewers and distributors saying they are using witchcraft to attract customers. 

“I was shocked to see a pant and an old blanket in a pot after the officers poured down the illicit brew known as ‘Kangara. 

"This tells how rot the illicit brew dealers are. They are using witchcraft to attract customers to buy liquor,” said Mary Morumbwa, a witness. 

Martin Nyangaresi, an alcoholic, who also witnessed the incident promised to stop consuming local illicit brews because the makers and sellers are putting their health at risk.

“I am not going to continue drinking busaa or chang’aa because I have personally witnessed the unexpected. 

"I saw a woman used sanitary towel in a pot that was used to prepare ‘Kangara’. I am urging residents to stop drinking the illicit brews failure to which they will contradict diseases unknowingly,” he said. 

Confirming the incident Nyamira North police boss James Musyimi said the officers we as well shocked seeing pants, old blankets and the used sanitary towels in the pots saying the illicit brew dealers will not be spared.
