Kenya National Union of Nurses Secretary General Seth Panyako has threatened to expose individual deemed to have embezzled funds that compelled the USAID cut off support to the health sector.

The Kakamega senatorial aspirant said there must be radical changes at the Ministry to ensure the Cabinet secretary and Principal Secretary are in charge of affairs at Afya house.

According to Panyako, over Sh5.3 billion was lost in health scandal leaving the ministry and the entire country startled on the way forward.

"Besides, we would like the head of state to fully devolve health function and call upon the US and other development partners to be channeling funds directly to beneficiaries or through county government to enhance accountability and transparency," he said while addressing journalists in Kakamega County.

Panyako together with his parliamentary counterpart Habil Nanjendo advised that a devolved national health board is better than having many doctors lumped at Afya house doing nothing.

Meanwhile nurses have also called upon President Uhuru Kenyatta to restructure the health Ministry due to corruption allegations and lack of accountability.

The US through aid agency USAID cut off Sh2.1 billion support due to corruption and lack of accountability.
