Spouses' parallel religious faiths has been blamed for contributing to family conflicts and domestic violence in the Kisii region.
Boronyi SDA Church's Riakemuma Division leader,Hezekiah Ogega Ocharo has lamented that,having married people professing parallel religious faiths was a major cause of family conflicts among spouses as they tried to win eache other to their preferred religious faith.
Speaking at Riakemuma village during the Church's routine Sunday morning fellowship prayers at Jared Momanyi Okari's home,Ocharo called for patience among spouses while making decisions on the religious faith they should profess as a family.
"Iam aware to the fact that,a number of families are experiencing challenges of deciding their religious faiths,with partners competing to win over their loved ones to their religious faith.The competition should be done with divine wisdom and prayer to avert causing conflicts and violence at fasmily levels,"Advised Ocharo.
He called for sobriety among spouses while handling the thorny issue of which religious faith they should both profess if they got married outside the church arrangements,to avert tearing their families apart in the course of competing to win each other to their parallel religious faiths.
"Everybody in this country has a right to freedom of worship.None has express right over the other when it comes to deciding on the religious faith one has to profess,"Stated Ocharo
Ocharo called on the church leaderships to intensify home evangelism and outreach programmes to reach out to those families experiencing challenges of parallel religious faiths to enhance their unity and harmony.
