Uasin Gishu county director of education has advised parents to ensure they get birth certificates for their children on time. This, he said will help avoid the last minute rush."I want to urge parents from this region to apply for a birth certificate on time to prevent the long queues that are being witnessed since a child cannot be registered for both KCPE and KCSE without this document," Anyang said in Eldoret town, Monday."The queues that are being witnessed at the county registration birth certificate offices have never been witnessed and if things go the way they are some students might fail to be registered because it takes approximately a month for the document to be processed," he added. He also advised parents to always look for their children's birth certificates during birth to prevent such problems being witnessed. The county director of education further warned principals against charging fees for day school students saying it's against the law. "Any principal who will be found doing contrary will face the full force of the law," noted Anyang."I will not allow our parents to be exploited by few self-centered principals whose aim is to make money yet education is free," he added.
