Kangundo Education Officer Hadard Wanjau said that teenagers who are at home on holiday could be tempted into love affairs and end up in sexual relations that may lead to unwanted pregnancies that result to early marriages.

He urged parents to take steps of educating not only girls, but also boys on the dangers of engaging in sexual intercourse while still in school.

The officer explained that it was the responsibility of parents to show their children that engaging in sex may result to contracting diseases such as HIV/Aids.

The officer noted that children could live decent lives as teenagers and maintain their dignity if parents played their parenting role well.

“Parents should be aware that not all people surrounding them are good, some of them are on a mission to entice their children into drugs and sex. There are men out there taking advantage of the holiday to lure school girls into unprotected sex,” observed Wanjau.

He explained that giving guidance to children could help them make wise decisions in whichever situation they were in.

The officer further noted that the future of many children were at risk due to lack of direction from parents, who he said, were busy building their careers.
