Parents in Nakuru County have been advised to vet baby care centres before admitting their children in them.
Speaking at Nakuru children rescue office on Friday, Agnes Mwenga from the county social welfare department said that some baby care centres do not have the necessary facilities to take care of the children.
“I am calling upon parents to be keen while taking their baby’s to the care centres since some of them are business oriented,” notes Mwenga.
Mwenga called on parents to always asses any centre and determine whether it has a conducive environment for the baby before leaving the child there.
Most working mothers who do not have house girls opt taking their children to baby centres.
“Some of the babies suffer in the centres as they are not given attention by the caregivers something which affects their mental development,” said Mwenga.
“Parents must check care centres and determine whether they are responsible enough to take care of their babies,” advised Mwenga.
