Parents in Kisii County have applauded decision by industrial court to have teachers back in class by Monday.
Kisii County Parents Association chairperson Gladys Basweti welcomed the move saying it will help children not to lose much.
“The teachers and the union should obey the court and return to class. Negotiations can be ongoing with the union representing the teachers while children are in class,” notes Basweti.
Basweti adds that with the teachers in class pupils will not lose much as it is the case now.
Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) and the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) have for the last one week warned the teachers against resuming to their duties until their basic salaries are increased.
Last week, the industrial court had declared the strike legal.
