Micheni has said that parents should start preparing for school fees, uniforms, books and other school necessities to ensure that their kids' learning is not interrupted once the schools open.

"For a wise parent, the time to think and plan about their children's next academic year is now. Rushing on the last minute in January is not the best thing to do. For instance, if a child is in need of a certain book, one can buy it at a fair price now than in January when demand and prices will be high," Micheni said on Tuesday in his Thika office.

Micheni also advised needy parents to start enquiring about school bursaries early and apply for them to ensure that they don't miss out.

He also noted that KCPE results will be out in a week's time saying that parents with children joining Form One next year should start planning well in advance.

"Everything is about planning. Good planning at the beginning of the year will mean a good year for both the learner and the parent and vice versa. So let parents plan wisely as they go about their holidays," Micheni said.
