The Kenya National Parents Association has supported the ongoing transfer of principals and head teachers to different regions of the country. According to association’s Chairman Nicholas Maiyo, the policy is in line with the Teachers Service Commission’s principles.
Amid the wrangles hitting back on the just-released 2017’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results, the Kenya National Association of Parents has stood out to defend the ongoing transfer of secondary school principals and primary school head teachers to different schools in different regions across the country.
“Many times we decry tribalism and differences among and within ourselves. We often talk of national integration and unity. In my own opinion, the move to transfer teachers is nowhere near to castigation whatsoever to the affected teachers, this instead, is one of the best ways to bolster national unity, cohesion, and integrity,” said the Chairman.
The chairman has urged the affected teachers to move fast and settle before the start of the new term.
Headteachers across the country have been opposed to the move to transfer them to schools far away from their own localities citing environmental difficulties in new and unused to areas. The Kenya National Union of Teachers chairman Wilson Sossion has also been opposed to the move. He is blaming the Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i for being dictatorial in running the education sector in the country.
