Speaking on Tuesday at St Patricks Primary School in Thika, Kung'u asked the government to honour the Supreme Court ruling and pay the teachers as directed.

He noted that children in public schools were losing out while their counterparts in private schools were continuing with their studies as usual.

"There is no need of denying teachers their money. The highest court in the land has decided that they should be paid and that is how it should be. Too much talking about the issue does not help the teachers and will only serve to demoralise them,” said Kung'u.

He said continued stay of children at home or having them in school unattended will only erode their good behaviours and morals.

"We cannot have kids going to school to learn by themselves. Discipline and morals will go down. We want a quick solution to this stalemate so that teachers can resume classes,” he said.
