The Kisii County parents association is calling on the government to appropriately allocate the county bursary funds to the needy students alone.
Addressing journalists in Kisii town, the chairperson of the association, James Tundura, said there are students gaining from the bursary who are not supposed to. He urged the responsible authorities to look upon the matter and address it.
“The bursary funds are meant for students who cannot afford to pay their school fees. We are bitter in that last year, the ones who got the bursary were from rich families,” said Tundura.
The association is claiming that there are more students who deserve bursaries but they do not get them barring them from getting to school.
The chairperson said if the habit continues, they will proceed to court for the cancelling of the board that governs the bursary fund.
“We will not allow the funds to land on wrong hands and yet those who need them do not get them. We will take the appropriate action if this will not stop beginning now,” said Tundura.
