Parents in Nyamira County have accused Interior Cs Fred Matiang’i for failing to end gambling businesses in the region.
The parents claimed their children have been using school fees to bet and play lotto because the gambling machines are all over the region.
“Since Matiang’i took over as the Interior Cs our children have refused to go to school because the gambling machines are in the county where they go to gamble using school fees money.
"Matiang’i should be sacked because he has failed to give orders to police to arrest those setting up gambling businesses in the region,” said Samuel Opanga.
Charles Chomba said police officers in Nyamira are colluding with those who own gambling machines.
“Police officers are being given bribe from the gambling machine owners so that they can allow school children play the gambling games and bet. Matiang’i should act or he resigns for failing to work properly,” he said.
Reached for a comment Nyamira county commissioner Isaiah Nakoru said police officers are ongoing with the crackdown to arrest gambling machines owners and destroying them as well.
He urged parents to cooperate with police to ensure gambling businesses in Nyamira comes to an end.
