Area County Commissioner Isaiah Nakoru said the irresponsible parents who have neglected their children should be held accountable for the rampant insecurity cases.

The commissioner said youths who have dropped school due to lack of support from parents have joined criminal gangs to terrorize locals.

“Police should not be blamed for failing to end crime because parents have failed in their part especially reporting their children when they drop school so that police can arrest them and ensure they goes back to school,” he said.

He warned school going children against dropping school saying in life shortcuts are not accepted.

“Many youths are taking shortcuts in life by dropping school so that they can be employed in farms and people businesses but when they are terminated they become desperate and join illegal groups to steal from people as a way of earning a living,” he said.

He challenged parents to be responsible and guide their children to become good people in future instead of dropping school at a tender age yet the government is offering free day primary and secondary education.
