A secondary school in Ngecha Ward, Limuru Sub County has been closed indefinitely following misunderstandings between the administration and the Board of Governors (BOG).
On Tuesday, parents demonstrated at Gichuru Secondary School over what they termed as influence by BOG members to the head teacher and the running of the school.
“The internal wrangle pitting the head teacher and the BOG is the centre of confusion,” said Moses Kariuki, a parent.
The parents accused the BOG members of ' dictatorship' in the running of the school.
“The BOG has transferred the principal of the school against the will of parents," added Kariuki.
The angry parents said that the influence by BOG in the running of the school has derailed the school's academic excellence.
“The school is performing poorly due to constant wrangles by BOG,” said James Kanyutu, another parent.
The parents also called for the overhauling of the school management to end the confusion and wrangles.
“We want the patronage of PCEA ended with immediate effect. The church's interference is the major cause of all troubles in the school,” added Kanyutu.
The parents said unprofessional influence by the PCEA Ngecha Parish is unbearable.
“The church has no scholarly experience to be allowed to conduct the operations of school in a competitive way,” Peter Mwaura, a parent said.
Kiambu Education Officer Clarice Mwita said that the school will be re-opened after striking consensus among all the stakeholders.
