Witeithie Ward MCA Peter Muiruri has cautioned parents against neglecting their children whom he says later indulge into drug abuse and criminal activities.
The MCA said that the young generation is being recruited so easily in the drug abuse practice by cartels in the Witeithie Estate who are the most stubborn criminals in the area.
This comes after police in the area arrested a drug dealer with 124 rolls of Bhang in the area who is believed to be selling the drugs in the area to the youth and school children.
Area Police Boss Sergeant James Linguli said that the suspect admitted to have been in the business for long and he was intending to sell the rolls in part of Juja sub-county where he says is also a drug den.
The MCA said that it is so unfortunate to see that numerous idling youth and school children, who have been neglected by their parents, become drug addicts and they are now the most feared criminals in the area as no one dares to walk at night in the area as they attack people at some points in the area.
Muiruri has called on the police to apprehend any idler in the area and keep the dumpsite area clear and secured to prevent anyone from idling around that pace, which is believed to be the drug den of the area.
“I call on our security officers to ensure the dumpsite area is clear and all the idlers around there are arrested and detained. The neglected children will be interrogated and their parents arrested to be held accountable for the same,” said Muiruri.
He said that parents who neglect their children will be put to task of explaining why they do that since those kids are the cause of the rising criminal activities in the area.
