Ndumberi Ward residents have been urged to ensure their children acquire high level of education if they want to effectively benefit from the county employment opportunities.

Ndumberi Ward MCA  Ngugi Uiru challenged parents to take the education of their children seriously, since almost all employment and appointment opportunities in the county require a minimum qualification of a degree.

"Currently only a few people from this region are employed by the county government because most of them do not have the qualifications required to be able to fill such opportunities," said Uiru.

Uiru, who sits at the County Assembly’s Appointment Committee, said residents must ensure they educate their children to better academic levels if they want to get an equal share with other wards in terms of county government employment and appointments.

The MCA was speaking on Friday during  a burial in Njunu village, appealed to the residents to change their attitude towards acquiring bursaries.

Uiru said that due to their negative attitude, most people still do not assist their children to apply for bursaries yet there are numerous bursary schemes that can support their children to be able to acquire better education.
